High-Throughput MLCC Testing
Allegro performs high-throughput production-level electrical testing of multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and is designed to meet the testing challenges faced by MLCC manufacturers. Allegro allows customers to verify quality and ensure accurate specifications for MLCCs used in a variety of applications, in the manufacture of high-quality printed circuit boards used in nearly every type of electronic device.
Although Allegro can process up to 20,000 chips per minute, ESI’s advanced rotary handling technology minimizes the potential for damage to the chips as the result of testing, thus increasing yield.
Allegro has the flexibility to test MLCCs from <1pF to 100µF, and provides process flexibility and maximum utilization to lower testing costs. Multiple tests are simultaneously performed on chips as small as 01005 (M0402 metric) on using ESI’s patented rotary handler technology for continuous automation and reliable productivity.

Ultra-High Throughput MLCC Testing of Large Chips
With its unique 8-track testing configuration, Allegro XP performs production-level electrical testing of larger size multi-layer ceramic capacitors—in a range of 0603 (1608 metric) to 1210 (3225 metric)—at productivity rates of up to one million parts per hour: the highest testing throughput in the industry. As with the Allegro platform, Allegro XP incorporates ESI-pioneered technologies for chip handling, contacting and IR measurement to deliver an exceptionally low cost of ownership, consistently high throughput and higher testing yield.
The advanced measurement technology and low-impact high-speed rotary handling technology used on Allegro XP was developed by ESI to increase testing throughput speeds while minimizing any damage to the chips as a result of the testing process. Allegro XP also accommodates up to 25 test stations simultaneously performing multiple tests, with ease-of-configuration allowing for fast change-over to various production-run testing setups.
